The first steps to parenthood were unimaginably challenging for us as a couple and as individuals. Because of our struggles with infertility, the constant doctor visits, and the other emotional challenges, it felt at times as if we were fighting the war on different fronts. However, we did learn, probably the most valuable lesson, how beautiful and powerful partnership can be.
In “The Long Way Home: A Couple’s Journey to Parenthood”, we not only detail our personal experiences, but also share the ways in which we learned to appreciate the strength our bond possesses. Many people are led to believe the myth of infertility being a cause that usually tears couples apart, but in our situation, we discovered that it was the facing of these challenges that helped strengthen our bond even more.
Whenever we felt like giving up, we found comfort in our partners. We went through the breakdowns, build-ups, and moments of uncertainty together. We supported one another and bear hugged during the rough patches. When the call about Parker came through, I realized how much my wife and I had already achieved.
The hope of parenthood gifted us, not just with joy, but improved our relation which brought forth the magic of love, communication, and undivided support.
